American Freedom Fund (AFF) has achieved another major milestone in the growth of their mission with the further expansion of the AFF Patriots Softball Program, AFF’s cornerstone athletics program. In 2019, the third full year with the program, AFF will expand its outreach to 6 teams and nearly 100 active duty, reserve, separated military athletes and their spouses. An outstanding accomplishment, considering that the program started only a few years ago just outside of Washington, DC with one team and 14 competitors. This accomplishment means AFF is able to further create and deliver a sense of community, camaraderie and healing for more military service members and Veteran athletes across more regions in the United States.
Patriots teams participate in numerous softball tournaments – both civilian and military – in more than 15 states across the nation, currently including Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Virginia and Nevada. Over the past four years, our athletes have consistently fielded two teams to participate at the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Military World Softball Tournament, placing as high as 9th out of over 140 teams.
AFF’s Athletics, Education, and Advocacy programs, all designed and executed to empower military service members and Veterans to live their best lives possible by creating an inclusive supportive peer to peer community, a sense of purpose, and opportunities for education and career growth. AFF’s Patriots Softball Program provide an enriched community engagement, a sense of purpose, and personal growth opportunities to Veterans and active duty military members, with a special focus on the modern warfighters who have recently returned from deployment. AFF’s athletic programs are designed for and open to all, whether a novice or seasoned competitor.
